How to find trending TikToks in your niche
Search the words your buyers use, follow the creators they already watch, and keep only the videos that did far better than their creator usually does. A video with 40,000 views from an account that gets 2,000 is a better signal for you than a viral dance with 30 million.

The short answer: keywords, creators, then outliers
The trending page and your For You feed show what is big for everyone. Most of it has nothing to do with what you sell. To find what is trending in your niche, you build your own small feed and read it the right way.
- Write 5 to 10 keywords. Use the words a buyer types, not the words on your website. A mug shop writes "coffee mug", "desk setup" and "latte art", not "artisan stoneware".
- Search each keyword in the TikTok search bar. Look at videos posted in the last week or two, not the all-time top results.
- Make a list of 10 to 20 creators who post about your niche every week. Include small accounts and your competitors.
- For each good video, open the creator's profile and look at their usual views. Keep the video only if it did far better than that.
- Save the ones you keep in one place, with a note on what the first two seconds say and show.
Do this once a week. Trends in a small niche move slower than global ones, but a format that worked last month may already feel old.
Why views alone mislead you
Big accounts get big views on almost every post. A video with 500,000 views from a creator who always gets 500,000 tells you nothing new. It is a normal day for them.
What you want is an outlier: a video that beat its own creator's usual by a lot. Divide its views by the creator's typical views on recent posts. A result of 5 or more means something in that video worked on people who do not normally watch that account. That something is what you can learn from.
- 40,000 views ÷ 2,000 usual = 20×. A strong signal, even if the number looks small.
- 500,000 views ÷ 450,000 usual = about 1×. A normal post. Skip it.
- Use the median, not the average. One old viral post can pull the average up and hide a real breakout.
Also look at speed. A video that gained most of its views in the last day is still rising, and the format is still fresh. A video that got its views a month ago may be past its peak.
Free TikTok tools that help
TikTok has two free tools that help with the keyword part.
- Creator Search Insights. Type "Creator Search Insights" in the TikTok search bar. It shows topics people search for often, by category or by the kind of content you make. The content gap filter shows topics people search for often but that few videos cover. It is only in some regions.
- TikTok Creative Center, Trends. On the web, it lists trending hashtags, songs, creators and videos. You can filter by region and by industry, and see hashtags that are new to the top 100.
Use Creator Search Insights to find new keywords. Use the Creative Center to see which songs and hashtags are rising in your industry. Neither one tells you which single videos beat their creator's usual, so you still need the outlier check above.
What to copy from a trending video, and what not to
When you find a video that took off, do not copy it. Copy the shape.
- The hook type. Is it a question, a bold claim, a "before and after", or a reaction? Write the same type of hook about your product. These TikTok hooks for product videos show each type.
- The pace. Count the cuts and how fast the person talks. A fast video with a cut every second needs a different script than a slow talking head.
- The beats. Write down what happens in order: problem, try, fail, answer, result. Keep that order and change every line.
- The length. If the winners in your niche are 15 seconds, do not post 60.
Do not copy the words, the footage or the person. Use the shape to tell your own story about your own product. If you want help with this step, see how to remix a TikTok for your product.
Then test it. One remix proves little. Make the same body with three or four different hooks, post them, and see which hook holds people. The guide on marketing an app on TikTok shows how to read the results.
Mistakes that waste your time
- Chasing global trends. A dance that is trending everywhere rarely sells a mug. A small format that works in your niche often does.
- Only watching big accounts. A small creator's breakout is easy to spot against their usual views, and their wins are easier to copy.
- Judging by likes. Likes follow views. The outlier ratio and the speed tell you more.
- Saving and never posting. A swipe file is only useful if you post from it every week.
- Copying the whole video. A copy is not your brand, and viewers who saw the original notice.
Where BlightBee fits
BlightBee has a Trends page that does the search and the outlier check for you. The Your niche tab reads your keywords and the creators you watch on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. Your first keywords come from your brand, and you can edit them. The Everywhere tab shows the platform trending feeds, with TikTok by region.
Each video shows how far it beat its creator's median views. You can sort by biggest breakouts, by rising (views gained per hour) or by newest, and save videos for your team. One click on a video opens a remix: a free breakdown of the hook, cuts, pace and beats, then three new versions written for your product.
What it does not do: BlightBee does not download or store the source video, and it does not copy it. The Free plan shows four picks, not the full feed. Watching creators is on paid plans. You can also make UGC-style videos without creators from any version you like.
Questions
How do I find trending sounds in my niche?
In the TikTok Creative Center, open Trends, then Songs, and pick your region. Also note which sounds repeat in the outlier videos you save.
How often should I check for trends?
Once a week is enough for most niches. Check daily only if your niche moves fast, like fashion or news.
Is it OK to copy a trending TikTok?
Copy the format, not the video. Keep the hook type, pace and beats, and write new words about your own product with your own footage.
Why does my For You page not show my niche?
Your For You feed follows what you watch, not what you sell. Searching your keywords and following niche creators shows you more of your niche.
